Obituary

Barbara Cox Goodwin, 82 of Newton, MS, died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Newton, MS.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Newton United Methodist Church in Newton, MS. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery, Lake, MS. Newton County Funeral Home North, Hwy 15 North, Newton, MS is in charge of arrangements 601-635-3200.

Mrs. Goodwin was a resident of Newton, MS for over fifty years and a member of Newton United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the UMW and was involved in the drive through live nativity of NUMC. She will be remembered for her love of crocheting, fishing, and her serving spirit. She adored her grandchildren, her cat "Baby" and all the numerous children she cared for in her home. The family would like to thank all the staff at Pioneer Community Hospital for all of their loving care.

Preceded in death by: Husband: James Goodwin, Sr., parents: Frank and Marion Cox and son-in-law: Barry Murphey.

Survivors Include: Children: Rosie Murphey of Brandon, MS, Jimmy Goodwin (Susan)of Lake, MS, Debbie Goodwin of Newton, MS, Julie Rowzee (Andy) of Hickory, MS, and Teresa Nelson (Hollis) of Gulfport, MS;
sister Betty Harvey of Lake, MS, brothers: Billy Cox (Frances) of Lake, MS, Frankie Cox (Sara)of Lake, MS; sister-in-laws: Peggy Petty of Lake, MS; Glenda Lewis (Leon) of Gulfport, MS;
grandchildren: Joshua Murphey, Jason Murphey, Joseph Murphey, Jay Goodwin, Orion Nelson, Lauren Lafontaine and Makenzie Rowzee; step-grandchildren: Steven Rowzee, Erin Ferguson and Jody Tyree; ten great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, and special extended family: Johnny Coghlan (Debbie), Tommy Coghlan and Kenny Coghlan (Linda).

Pallbearers include Joshua Murphey, Jason Murphey,Joseph Murphey,Jay Goodwin, Steven Rowzee, Jimbo Harvey, Orion Nelson and Trey Cox.
Honorary Pallbearers are Johnny Coghlan, Tommy Coghlan, Kenny Coghlan, Joey Mitchell, David Mitchell, Shannon Lewis and Tommy Purvis.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to: Newton United Methodist Church or American Diabetes Foundation.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at Newton United Methodist Church in Newton, MS on Friday September 19, 2014, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
