June 20, 1944 – February 19, 2024
Antoinette "Ann" Summerford, 79 of Newton passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 at her home. She was born Tuesday, June 20, 1944 in Magnolia, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Garlandville Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with burial will follow in Garlandville Cemetery. Bro. Joe Garvin will officiate.
Mrs. Ann had a servant's heart, and will be remembered for her strong faith and trust in The Lord. She was a member of Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge and faithfully attended Garlandville Church where she served as pianist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George William "Buddy" Summerford; father, Commodore Beecher Smith; mother, Ollie Jeweline Smith; and sister, Ollie Inez Smith.
Survivors include her sons, Randy Grant (Rachel) and Anthony Grant; daughter, Margo Evans (Lance) of Newton; brother, David Commodore Smith; sisters, Lois Ramone Smith and Arbetha Krzesicki (Michael); grandchildren, Brandon Grant (Kathryn), Whitney Spence (Tyler) and Clara Crosby; great grandchildren Winston Spence, Willow Grace Spence, Ila Mae Grant and Kensley Ann Goodwin and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge and are very grateful for Sheila Boutwell, Jean Freeny, the staff of Accentcare Hospice, the Bankston family, and many others in the Garlandville church family.
Pallbearers will be Lance Garvin, Rassy Walley, Raymond Boutwell, Wendell Boutwell, and Joe Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Coker and Emmit Bankston.
Newton County Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements.
