Annie Ruth Woodham, 95, of Newton, Mississippi, went to sleep at home and awoke in the presence of Jesus on Monday, July 1, 2019. She was born Wednesday, November 7, 1923 in Newton County.
Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Newton County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Robert Rowzee and Bro. David Rives will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200
Annie Ruth graduated from Decatur High School and attended one year of college before joining the United States Navy during WWII. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church for 75 years, serving as the Church Clerk for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Woodham, Sr.; parents, Andrew and Mary Lou Duke; daughter, Cathy Houston; siblings, Clarence Duke, W. L. Duke, Jack Duke, James Hardy Duke, Catherine Duke McMullan, and Margarite Duke.
Survivors include sons, Richard Woodham, Sr. and his fiance' Kay Moore and Johnny Woodham (Jimmie); grandchildren, Richie Woodham (Jodi), John Woodham, III, Luke Woodham, and Jamie Woodham (Lycrisha); Numerous great and great-great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Laverne Evans.
Pallbearers will be Richie Woodham, Jamie Woodham, Rayphord Bounds, Willie Bounds, Tim Jay, and Steven Davis.
