Ann was born in Union on December 15, 1949 to William "Elvin" Simmons and Verneida Simmons. She lived in Conehatta her entire childhood. Upon graduation, Ann attended East Central Community College. There she met her husband, Robert Lewis Munn, of 54 years. After getting married, Ann worked at The Newton Company for a short time. She often said that she was so proud to have worked there because most of everything she had and loved came from there. After leaving there, Ann went to work for the Newton County Bank as an administrative secretary until she retired in 2015 after 46 years.
She made a profession of faith in her Lord and Savior at a young age at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Ann and Robert were long-time members of Calvary Baptist Church Newton where she led Sunday school, served as GA leader, treasurer, and on numerous other committees and also First Baptist Church Newton where she sang in the choir and served on the finance and hospitality committees.
Ann has served on the Newton Chamber of Commerce board, past president of Friends of Central Mississippi Residential Center, and assisted CMRC in community involvement and mental health awareness. She was very passionate about caring for the elderly. Serving others was Ann's way of serving the Lord. She has a heart of righteous service.
Her most loved role was being "Granann" to her precious grandchildren. She was devoted to each of their lives and cherished spending time with each one.
Ann is survived by her husband, Robert Munn, and her daughter Heather Marks (Tyler) of Tupelo. She leaves behind her three beloved grandchildren, Eloise Brickell Marks, Miller Gordon Marks, and Sutton Elizabeth Marks of Tupelo. Ann is also survived by her sister, Nina McCarver (Shawn) of Germantown, TN. She leaves behind a niece, Olivia McCarver, and four nephews, Liam McCarver, Timothy McCarver, and Andrew McCarver of Germantown, TN, and Bobby Joel Leach of Conehatta.
