Obituary

Amanda Lee Powell Stewart, born on November 13, 1935, in the Martin community, the daughter of the late Morgan Powell and Willie Lou McKee Powell, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  She was well known in the business world for her contributions as a Credit Life Sales Representative, as well as Managerial Sales Director for numerous companies. She will be remembered as a  loving Christian mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Her whole life revolved around her family and friends. Mrs. Stewart attended First Baptist Church of Collinsville.

In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband: Scott Stewart and one daughter: Pamela Stewart Carter.

She is survived by one sister: Mary Lou Powell Hutchinson of the Martin community; three daughters: Marcy Joyner of Brandon; Lisa (Dewayne) Todd of the Martin community and Karen (Danny) Todd of Chunky; six grandchildren: Brad (Nicole) Todd, Josh (Leah) Todd, Brooke (Robby) Balla, Tiffany (Bryan) Griffith, Keri (Walt) Hogg, and Danny (Mallory) Todd, Jr.; thirteen great-grandchildren: Kayela Griffith, Christopher Griffith, Jolee Todd, Jace Knost, Kaiden Griffith, Laynee Todd, Blakleigh Hogg, Camden Joyner, Noah Todd, Dayne Todd, Bryson Hogg, Sophie Joyner, and Ethan Balla.

She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, as well as an infinity of family and friends.

A time of visitation will begin today, May 30, 2022 at 5:30 pm and continue until 7:30 pm at Newton County Funeral Home, North Chapel, 9998 Hwy. 15 N, Newton, as well as in the morning  on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 where friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00 am,  prior to the funeral service at First Baptist Church in Collinsville. Immediately following, friends and family will say their goodbyes, as they celebrate her life, which will begin at 11:00 am. Rev. Hal Bates, former pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate the service, with her grandson, Bro. Danny Todd, Jr., opening the service with prayer.

Following the funeral, a graveside service will follow at Pine Grove Church Cemetery in the Martin community.

Newton County Funeral Home, North Chapel, 9998 Hwy. 15 N., Newton, served the Stewart family.
