Mrs. Alice Faye Lofton Griffin, of Lawrence died September 29, 2024, at the age of 82.

The Griffin family will receive guests from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home – South, 100 Old Hwy. 15 Loop, Newton, on Friday, October 4, 2024.

Graveside services will immediately follow the visitation at Ebenezer Cemetery with Bro. Tommy Tanner officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jay Griffin, Christopher West, Cameron Knotts, Jimmy Dale Butler,  Trent Posey, and Jacob McDaniel.

Alice was born on December 12, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Walter and Pauline Lofton of Natchez, MS. She grew up in Natchez Mississippi, and met Thomas Griffin there while he was serving in the National Guard. They married in 1963 Their family grew with the additions of two children.

Once married, they moved to Lawrence, MS. Alice lived there until the last 7 years where she lived in Meridian with her daughter Sharon. She was a graduate of the first graduating class of East Central Community Beauty school. She worked over 30 years as a hairdresser and owned and operated the Beauty Box in Newton, MS where she worked many years and had many sweet customers and friends who she loved very much. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, cross-stitching, antiquing and fishing.

Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Griffin, three siblings, sister Lou (Joe) Butler, brother Jerry Lofton, brother Kenny Lofton.

She has two surviving sisters Joyce Buckles (Buck) of Texas and Sally Faulkner (Glenn) of Florida. She is also survived by two children, Shannon (Gail) Griffin and Sharon Partridge (William), both of Meridian; four grandchildren, Trent Posey (Laura) of Meridian, Kyle Walker of Brandon, Taylor Griffin of Jackson, Makaylin Knotts (Cameron) of Wiggins. Three great grandchildren also survive, Leyton Posey, Jet Posey and Mila Knotts.
