Funeral services for Agnes Bernice Lofton will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:00 am at Newton County Funeral Home North. Burial will be immediately following the services at Newton County Memorial Gardens.
Rev. Kelly Jordan and Dr. Brian Rushing will officiate.
Mrs. Lofton, age 90, of Newton, died, Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
Bernice will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, GG, and friend. She retired from Newton Company Pants Factory after 42 years where she made many friends and loved her co-workers. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Newton where she served an active role in Sunday School and helped with many church meals. She was fondly known as the egg lady since she always made her delicious deviled eggs for church meals and Triple L meals. She loved her church and church family where she was an inspiration to many. She always enjoyed getting together with friends for shopping or to play a game of Mexican train, bunco or skip-bo. She loved cheering on Ole Miss and the Golden State Warriors. Bernice will be missed by many as she was such an inspiration with her kindness and fun personality.
She is survived by son David Lofton and his wife Linda; and daughter Teresa Hart and her husband Allen all of Newton. Grandchildren Katie Lofton Wallace and her husband Gray of Kosciusko; Melissa Williamson Anderson and her husband Mylan of Puckett; and Patrick Lofton of Minneapolis, MN. Great Grandchildren Liza Wallace and Collier Anderson. Sister-in-law Sadie Brunson of Pearl and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Lamar Lofton, parents Elige and Gaston Brunson and sister Rachel Leach and brothers Joe Brunson, Bobby Brunson and James Brunson.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Lofton, Gray Wallace, Mylan Anderson, Lee Balliet, Todd Pillsbury and Bob Bridges.
Honorary pallbearer is William Savell.
