Adell Odessa Starnes Shepherd, 89, of Rose Hill, MS died Monday, October 2, 2017 at Woodland Court in Newton, MS. She was born Sunday, May 13, 1928 in Chunky, MS.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home - South in Newton. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home-South. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton, MS. Bro. Mrs. Shepherd enjoyed gardening, working on their fish farm, sewing for her daughters, and cooking for her family and many relatives who visited.

She is preceded in death by: Husband - Charles Aaron Shepherd, Daughter - Mary Ann Kilgore, Grandson- Charles Kilgore, Father - Wilton Clarke Starnes, Mother - Lessie Mae Starnes, Sisters - Esther Glenn, Mary Cuccia, Nannie Mae Boles, Martha Spires, Brother - Emory Noel Starnes, Sidney A. Starnes, and Wilton C. "Buck" Starnes, Jr.

Survivors include her Daughter - Leah Shepherd, Son - George Shepherd, Sister - Freda Starnes Smith, Grandchildren: Rick Goode, Jessica Chatham, Aaron Kilgore, Keith Shepherd, and Angela Blount, 4 Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Fred Starnes, Todd Blount, Tracy Scott, Aaron Kilgore, Sammy Aycock and Edwin Sandifer.
